Walk to Glendhu Bay
As I am running out of places to stay and still have a lot of time I decided to stay a little bit longer in Wanaka.
One of the day tramps for a view up the mountains (Roys peak) was closed due to lambing I decided to do the tramp up to Glendhu bay.
This trip goes along the waterfront past “The Wanake Tree” (a lone tree in the lake) and gracing sheep until it ends at the Glendhu Bay campgrounds after 13 km. It is actually part of Te Araroa – New Zealand’s Trail. This 3000 km route stretching from Cape Reinga in the North to Bluff in the South is the longest trek you can do in New Zealand.
Well for me the 27 km to and back where enough for a day so I went for a movie in the local movie theater. This theater still has a break in the middle of the movie so you can go out and get some more refreshments, go to the loo or just stretch your feet. Once everybody is back in the movie commences.
I enjoyed this trip back memory lane. It somehow gave me a feeling that the whole thing is more relaxed.
