Back into the sea, good lunch and Aomori in nice
Official point in the itinerary: Beach holidays.
So we went to the next beach next to Aomori. Again, a short trip with the local train to Asamushi Onsen. No helicopter or search and rescue this time.
But baywach. Well, a few gals and guys making sure nobody drowns. The water was at 28 degrees, but somehow it felt a lot colder than the other beach. Might have been due to the fact that after a few meters, there was more water under my head and tsunami body length. And there was still a few meters to swim until I reached the fencing.
Next door, you could rent stand-up paddle boards and water scooters.
So all in all a nice beach with actual sea feeling and not just bathtub.
Of course, this was not a full day sunning at the beach (it was overcast anyway), so for lunch we were already moving to a small mim and pop restaurant on the other side of the road. One of their specialties is Teishoku. The bowls come in 10, 15, or 20 pieces of tuna on top of some rice. The middle bowl costs 3300 Yen and is definitely filling. And great food.
Back in Aomori, the sun decided to come out. But all Shinkansen traffic on the east coast of Japan was cancelled for tomorrow, the 16th, due to Taifun No. 7. Our travel plans are for the 17th. But what if the trains don’t run by then?
Well. That’s for tomorrow, and while the weather was nice, I decided to prowl along the sea front and go for a few pictures.
