How to get to Japan from Germany in 2024.
Thank you for travelling with Deutsche Bahn. Well. The first half of the trip to the airport. And it would not be the current version of travelling with DB if we didn’t have delays or a change of tracks at the last minute. And due to some restauration work at the tracks, the second half of the train rise was changed to a bus ride. Which – as to make up for the delay of the train – departed before the posted time.
Leading to sine confusion with some of the travelers wondering if they are on the correct bus.
Check-in got rid of personnel. To make sure that efficiency is the name of the game, we remove people from the bag drop off as well. Too bad if the camera is not able to pick up the luggage tag because “is on top” should actually mean “is readable by a camera mounted in the ceiling.
Having passed that hurdle, I am now on my way to security check. Trying to enter the one I am used to, I get a bad beep. – I should have entered the floor above.
With lots of time to spare, I make it to the gate to meet up with the group I am going to travel with the upcoming weeks.
On board of the plane a few things don’t seem to go as planned. “We will show you a security movie.” – “Cabin crew prepare for manual instruction.”
“Cabin crew, please all doors in park configuration” only to be followed up with “Cabin crew all doors in flight configuration” a short time later.
(Weird language from me, not the crew)
Despite all that, the plane leaves the gate at 14:36 .
Funny thing about food. If you give people a menu where one option is described as this style and that – using four lines – and the other one is just a one-liner “Mac and cheese with Cauliflower” it seems to have an impact on the choices. A guess which one was left when it was my turn. Yay.
Even though I tried to get some sleep in I only managed to follow the flightpath via Austria, Romania, Black Sea, Caspian sea, Kasachstan, China (I think we almost flew over Beijing), South Kora. Of Japan, we first saw Okinawa, and then we landed in Haneda.
