And so it begins
Right now I’m sitting in Heathrow waiting for my connecting flight. So I’ll share some of my thoughts about the last 30 hours.
I’ve been picked up at home by good friends of mine at one o’clock in the morning. They got a plane to catch too. Only theirs is departing an hour before mine.
I tried to be early with my online check-in as I wanted to try for seats in the exit row. So I had to get up at eight in the morning. – Well it did work, I just had to pay extra.
As cleaning is always a chore to me that I try to delay I had still a lot to do. Which lead to no sleep before before pickup.
At the same time my sister had me lighten my luggage. More about that maybe later.
Being at the airport at 3 o’clock in the morning has it’s own eery feeling. There are people there. Most of them trying to sleep. But nobody is the check-in. So it’s justing waiting until two hours before the plane leaves.
After I made it through the bag drop, went to customs I had to wait for baggage screening at the gate. Fortunately they got those nice reclining chairs in the “leisure lounge”. They are actually quite comfortable. Even if you are tall.Well we are used to a lot of things when they check our carry-on. This time they didn’t want my shoes. Nope they wanted everything electronic out of the bag. That includes cables, batteries and of course laptops. Refreshing.
Well once at the gate I had a wonderful morning watching the sun come up over the airfield. The plane was reached quite fast and up we went.
The food was ok. And the tea actually drinkable. Last time I had tea with BA they did something that made it horrible. And that with the airline from the empire where everyone is upposed to drink tea.
The nearere we came to London the stranger some of the neighbourhoods seamed to me. Just streets reminding me of the machines in the movie “the matrix”.
Back down in Heathrow we were sent past the “RABIT” hole.
And now I am waiting for my connecting flight.
