Down down into the hole we go
Today was a pay or get bored kind of day. The place we went to was in the middle of nowhere and the reason we went there are some caves that are inhabited by glowworms.
Those cannibalistic maggots have silk strings hanging from them and produce bioluminescence as a byproduct of their digestion. The light being the bait and the silk the trap. If smaller insects fly up to the lightsource (night sky) they get caught and devoured.
After nine months the glowworms become flies but they haven’t developed a mouth. So for 48 hours they do what they can to reproduce and die off.
So that’s the cheap reason why we go into the caves.
The more exciting and adventurous reason is the 35m abseiling, ziplining and swimming and walking through the caves with a climb up two waterfalls at the end.
Unfortunately they won’t let you take any pictures in there.
To be fair: Most of the time you are way to busy with yourself anyway.
