Hotwater beach
The first part of the day was filled with driving through the Coromandel peninsula running for the tide at Hotwater beach.
Hotwater beach got its name because of some faults pushing hot water to the top at a very few spots. They are only usable an hour before and after low tide as well. At that time you can dig a hole, mix cold and hot water and have yourself a nice warm soak.
When we arrived almost all spots where already taken and the outside was cold. As was the ocean. The current was a little to strong for having a swim as well. A short dip was possible though.
The second chance – to go at two o’clock in the morning at a full moon lost to a good nights sleep in the nice cabins.
