Training in Salvador
We were supposed to meet up at half past five to go to and train with a local group. What I had failed to ask was where it was actually supposed to take place and how to get there.
So I was on time in only my Training clothes. No money.
As it turns out half past five was Brazilian time and the training itself was supposed to start at 8 o’clock. So the meetup happens an hour late and after taxi drive of about 20 minutes we were an hour early.
(Why do I just now – at the time of writing this down – have an old german kids gingle stuck in my head saying: “Wieso? Weshalb? Warum? Wer nicht frägt bleibt dumm!” Roughly translated: “How so? Why? For which reason? Who doesn’t ask stays dumb!”?)
So going around the corner we found a few small stores where the rest of our group went on to buy some water and candy. (They offered me some too.)
The training itself was fun and based on the idea of finding entries into takedowns. Afterwards multiple rodas were opened up.
For some reason my stamina seemed to lack a lot compared what I am used to. So I had to sit the rodas out. At some point I had to get to a (only partially functional) restroom to get some relief. But my strength seemed to be sucked out of me.
Let’s just say I was very happy to be back in my hostel later.
